Renette has previously had 4 chapters published in a Clinical Nursing Skills book and she has also been involved in a clinical project around supporting nurses in practice with Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. Along with teaching and research, Renette is also involved in supporting students and placements. She is an Academic Advisor for a selection of students where she provides regular pastoral support. She is also an Academic Assessor where she provides support to clinical areas and students during clinical placements.
Renette trained to be a Registered Nurse and worked within the Surgical department for many years. In 1996 she worked in a seconded post as a Night Nurse Practitioner where she taught nurses extended roles and attended emergencies during the night to perform these roles. After this seconded role ended she worked for a short period in medicine before starting a Law degree and moving to work on a Surgical High Dependency ward. Upon completion of her Law degree she then completed a PCGE for further education. In 2004 she got her first teaching post at UCLan and then went on to complete a PGCE for Higher education. In 2010 she completed her Master's Degree in Medical Law and Bioethics with a distinction.
