As a campus day facilitator, Gillian helps students. She aids them to work through case-based learning scenarios and to develop their clinical reasoning skills. She is actively involved with the teaching of communication skills and supports a group of students as their academic advisor.
Gillian graduated from Newcastle University in 1985 then trained as a GP in Cumbria. She has a wealth of experience of different types of practices within the county and of different working roles within them.
She was a GP partner for twenty years in Keswick. Here, she she enjoyed being involved in the running of the practice and organising services for patients. Gillian also enjoyed working at the community hospital. This provided in-patient beds and a minor injury unit, along with a host of other services. She has special interests in sexual health, contraception, medicine for the older person and diabetes.
