Dr Gabriella Fardhiyanti
Dr. Gabriella Fardhiyanti is a lecturer here in Business and Management Research Methods. She received her PhD in hospitality and tourism at Taylor's University, Malaysia. Her PhD dissertation focuses on the role of air connectivity in promoting social integration in ASEAN. Her research interests focused on mixed methods, policy analysis, international relations, tourism, and aviation.
Gabriella has been actively involved in ASEAN seminars and is a member of the ASEAN Tourism Research Association (ATRA). She is a CAPA (Centre of Aviation) member and is part of YSEALI (a US programme for ASEAN students). Before joining the PhD program, she completed her MA with distinction in ASEAN Studies at the Asia-Europe Institute of the University of Malaya (UM) Malaysia and her BA in Marketing Management at Asia-Pacific University. She is actively involved in the journal's publication and attends various international seminars and conferences.
Gabriella delivers a range of subjects across different programmes such as MRes and DBA. She has a particular focus on and expertise in research methods and methodologies. She is actively engaged in research. Her research encompasses interdisciplinary studies, mainly concentrating on mixed methods, tourism, and globalisation. She is an active member of the Higher Education Academy. Gabriella supervises postgraduate projects and dissertations in the areas of business, tourism, and management.
Her PhD work on aviation policy was presented at the 2019 ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) at the ASEAN Ministry of Tourism Meeting. and she was nominated as the youngest PhD recipient in Malaysia. She has a lot of experience working for several organisations. This includes the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS), a think tank based in Malaysia that develops public policy; Unitas Communication, a PR company based in London that focuses on media outreach and research for intergovernmental bodies and global corporations; and UNHCR-Indonesia, which is in charge of providing shelters for Rohingya refugees.
