Elizabeth Wilcox-Wood
Elizabeth is a Registered Veterinary Nurse who teaches across a range of subjects within the School. She has a particular interest in clinical skills, animal handling and veterinary ethics.
Elizabeth delivers high-quality and engaging teaching to BVMS and Bio-Veterinary Science students using a range of learning and assessment methods and technologies, including via VLE and other digital media, animal contact and industry settings, including at off-campus locations as required. This also includes contributing to the assessment processes on the BVMS and Bio Veterinary Science courses.
In addition, Elizabeth develops and consolidates contacts with industry/employers, university partners and other external organisations, to maximise opportunities for interprofessional interactions and education.
Elizabeth's teaching career began at Myerscough College in 2009, where she gained her Certificate in Education, teaching Veterinary Nursing in both the FE and HE sector. Here, she taught a range of Veterinary Nursing students and developed a passion for online learning, developing a virtual learning environment for teaching and assessing distance learners.
After completing a BA in Education in 2018, Elizabeth embarked on a new role at Salford College where she gained accreditation to deliver the Veterinary Nursing Diploma course at the Eccles campus, this involved gaining RCVS accreditation to deliver the course and subsequent development of the course.
For five years, Elizabeth delivered the course to Veterinary Nursing students and developed partnerships with local Veterinary Practices where the students undertook their work placements. Elizabeth was also involved in training and standardising the clinical coaches who worked with the students in their placements.
In 2020, Elizabeth enrolled on the MA Education at Huddersfield University with a focus on Teaching and Learning, the research and dissertation which she undertook focussed on student reflection in teaching and learning.
