Dr Victoria Buller
Vicky began her career working in General Dental Practice before developing her interest in dental education. She has worked in a variety of educational settings including Health Education North West, Further and Higher Education. She joined us in 2012 following her role as Education Programme Manager for Cumbria and Lancashire where she developed an interest in Interprofessional education. Vicky has been involved in external activity including being secretary for East Lancashire Local Dental Committee. Vicky has been an Educational Associate with the General Dental Council working closely with quality staff to quality assure education and training programmes, provide advice and identify and explore areas of risk and the further development of education and training initiatives and policies. Within this role, Vicky chaired inspection visits, making recommendations on the quality of the programmes.
As Principal Lecturer, Vicky is a member of the School's Senior Leadership Team. In addition to this strategic role, Vicky is Course Lead for BSc (Hons) Dental Studies for Dental Care Professionals and MSc Dental Education. She also leads the first-year professionalism module for the BSC (Hons) Dental Therapy and BSc (Hons) Clinical Dental Technology. Vicky is also the Student Experience Lead and Retention Lead for the School, is actively involved in regulatory body inspections and mentors other staff members.
Prior to joining the University of Central Lancashire, Vicky was Education Programme Manager for the North Western Deanery in the Workforce Development Team. She has been involved in both local, national and international conferences.

For her Professional Doctorate, Vicky's research 'Transition from Diploma to Degree for Dental Hygienists and Dental Therapists: Academic and Social Transition' was a qualitative single case study with a phenomenological approach. The research focussed on the expectations and experiences of the students entering into HE and used Gale and Parker (2014) as a framework. Vicky has also undertaken research in Interprofessional learning in Dentistry.
