Dr James Ingham

As Academic Development and Quality Lead, Jim oversees course development, quality of curriculum delivery, course enhancement and review of academic programmes. He is involved with the management of assessment boards, review of student cases and maintaining the academic quality assurance processes within the School. As a Research Degree Tutor, Jim co-ordinates the School’s internal quality assurance processes for research degrees. This includes admissions and interviews, the research programme approvals, transfer to PhDs and the examination of research degrees. Jim is Course Leader for the Professional Doctorate in the Creative Arts Jim a member of the Faculty Quality and Student Experience Committee. He is also a member of the University Collaborative Sub-Committee.

Jim has overseen curriculum design within the School for a numbers of years. He has been involved with several Periodic Course Reviews for the School. Jim oversaw the development of the Media and Film courses at the Hebei University in Baoding. He has also been involved with a large number of course developments with partner institutions both here in the UK and internationally. Jim is the key point of contact for external examiners for the School. Jim has supervised and is currently supervising several research students in a variety of areas. Subject areas that he has supervised include "Real-time collaboration in virtual reality based on full-body motion tracking of multiple participants", and "Spatiality and Temporality in Sound and Music: the existential phenomenological qualities of encountering music’s being". For over twenty years Jim has produced the much acclaimed On the Wire specialist music programme for the BBC. This includes includes the transmission of the programme from Beijing while the host Steve Barker resided in China.
