Dr Carl Morris
Carl Morris is a lecturer and researcher working across various sociological disciplines, including popular culture, media, religion, and lifestyle/leisure. He teaches a wide range of areas relating to sociology, media, culture and religion. His latest research project, running between 2021-24, examines the growth and evolution of trail and ultra running in North America and the UK. Previous research has examined Muslim media and cultural production in the UK, with a forthcoming book due to be published by Bloomsbury in 2022.
Carl is an Associate Director for the Arts and Humanities Research Academy. He is a Teaching Fellow for the Higher Education Authority and he sits on the university ethics panel.
Carl has been appointed to a number of external research organisations, including as General Secretary for the Muslims in Britain Research Network (2014-17) and as a Committee Member for the BSA Sociology of Religion Study Group (2011-2016).
