Feixia Yu designed and developed Chinese at UCLan, taking it from an elective module to a joint subject on the Combined Honours degree programme, and then to BA(Hons) Business Management in China. In 2008, Feixia took on the role of Director for the UCLan Confucius Institute, which focuses on promoting Chinese language and Culture at local schools and developing stronger educational links with Chinese universities.

Felixia has taught Chinese language modules ranging from total beginners to GCSE/A Level and final year degree programmes. In addition, she has also taught content modules on contemporary China.
When seconded to the University of Salford, she taught English and Chinese translation modules, business interpreting, consecutive interpreting and conference interpreting modules on their MA Chinese, English, Chinese Translation with Interpreting.
She was Elective Co-ordinator for Chinese between 1997-2008, supervising part time hourly paid staff; and acted as mentor for in-coming secondees from China helping them to adapt to the UK education system.
She is the Year Abroad Tutor, looking after students on both study and work placements in China.
