In addition to her role as Head of the School of Medicine, Professor Jackson was appointed as Executive Dean of Faculty of Clinical & Biomedical Sciences in 2017. She is a Professor of Primary Care medicine and remains both clinically active and research active within the area of clinical medicine and medical education.

Professor Jackson is Head of the Medical School at UCLan and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Clinical and Biomedical Science having previously held the positions of Associate Dean and Head of Medical Education.
Prior to her arrival at UCLan, she held the position of Deputy Director of Teaching and Director of Clinical Studies at St Andrews University in addition to holding a Chair in Primary Care Medicine.
Her specialist training is in Primary Care Medicine and she held the post of senior lecturer in Primary Care Medicine at the University of Dundee Medical School before being appointed as Professor of Primary Care Medicine at the University of St Andrews in 2007.
Alongside her role at UCLan, Cathy holds numerous examinerships at home and abroad and is a member of many national and international committees.
Professor Jackson’s research interests lie in the area of inflammatory airway disease, early recognition and management of chronic disease management and medical education.
