The UCLan Research Centre for Digital Life is a transdisciplinary centre focussed on finding answers to the big questions of how to design, create and use digital technologies for the benefit of people. This provokes a cross-faculty approach and encourages partnership with our local community and beyond. Such big questions cannot be answered by only focussing on technology or people, but by understanding the relationship between technology and people. Such research is not well suited to a single research paradigm or a single method, it requires big data and big teams working across and within multiple disciplines.

The goal of enhancing people’s lives is realised across four strands:

  • Digital Innovation and Creativity
  • Digital Health and Wellbeing
  • Digital Learning and Education
  • Digital Governance and Security

Our work is related to the following centres and groups:
