Wigan Warriors to face Warrington Wolves at Old Trafford

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is wishing its official rugby league partner Wigan Warriors good luck as they prepare for their fourth successive Grand Final this weekend.

The Warriors will face local rivals Warrington Wolves on Saturday at Old Trafford after a 28-18 semi-final victory over Hull paved the way to the final.

UCLan is the club’s ‘official university’ and has worked with Warriors’ players and staff over the last few years by providing pre-season fitness tests, video analysis support, strength and conditioning training and several University degree places for its staff.

"I want to offer my congratulations to Wigan Warriors for reaching the Grand Final and wish them best of luck for the game."

Dr Adrian Ibbetson, Head of the School of Sport and Wellbeing at UCLan, said: “I want to offer my congratulations to Wigan Warriors for reaching the Grand Final and wish them best of luck for the game.

“The University is proud of its long association with the club which was established in 2009. We really value the partnership that we have built with Wigan, especially as it directly benefits our students by allowing them to work closely with professional athletes and staff already working in the industry.

“We’re already looking forward to working with Wigan in the coming months when preparations begin for next season.”
