Sports Arena played host to largest clubbercise class
A new Guinness World Record has been set at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).
The University’s Sports Arena, based in Cottam, hosted the largest clubbercise class as part of an event called Clubbercise Glowfest, organised by Greenwich Leisure Ltd in partnership with Clubbercise Ltd.
More than 280 people took part in the record-breaking official attempt. The world record attempt was led by clubbercise master trainers who created an electric atmosphere for the participants. A sea of glowsticks illuminated the Arena with dance club anthems from past to present giving the event the ultimate party feel.
The Mayor of Preston, Councillor Brian Rollo opened the official attempt, with an official Guinness World Record adjudicator present to verify the attempt was a success. After just over 30 minutes, the adjudicator was able to present to the organisers and headline sponsor with the official certificate to a mass of cheering participants.

Jimmy Khan, Partnership Manager at Greenwich Leisure Ltd, said: “We are now proud holders of an official Guinness World Record title. It was an amazing evening attracting people from across the country to participate and hopefully achieve something that will stay with them forever.”

Andy Coverdale, UCLan Business Services Manager, added: “We were delighted to work in partnership with Greenwich Leisure and provide the University’s Sports Arena to host this fantastic community event. We are absolutely thrilled that the participants managed to break the Guinness World Record.”
The event was partly funded by the Big Lottery and supported by numerous partners including UCLan, Preston’s College, Preston What Women Want project, Escape Lounges Manchester Airport, Coco Vita, Preston City Council, Sir Tom Finney Soccer Centre and more than 20 volunteers giving their time to support the event in an official capacity.
