Tuition fees for UK/home students
Full-time fees are per-year and part-time fees are charged per 20 credits studied unless otherwise stated. There are a number of non-standard fee courses so please check individual course pages for accurate information.
If you're continuing on the same course you'll pay the same tuition fees for each year of your study, based on the year you start. This is subject to any applicable inflationary increase.

Further information
Part-time courses are charged per 20 credits studied.
Every course is made up of several individual modules or units, with each module being worth a certain number of credits. You will need to take complete a specific number of credits from the modules to successfully complete your course. Modules are usually worth 20, 40 or 60 credits and each module will align to a minimum level on the Regulated Qualification Framework.
If you study part-time you'll be charged per 20 credits studied, with fees calculated per 20 credit module.
How many modules make up an award?
Most standard courses are made up of 20 credit modules, however there are exceptions. The number of modules per course may very. The total number of credits per course remains the same.

Tuition fees include:
- Scheduled course tuition, academic, technical and administrative support, use of course equipment and facilities
- Course related induction activities
- Course assessment and awards
- Access to our library and online resources. This includes on-campus Wi-Fi, networked and remote access to our virtual learning environment
- Use of our buildings and resources for scheduled activities and learning support
- Dissertation, project and/or thesis printing and binding where the submission of printed and bound documents is a requirement for assessment of the module
- Use of our technical equipment and materials identified by the course teaching team as essential for the completion of the course
We will not charge additional fees for course costs which are essential for the successful achievement of your course award. The only exceptions to this are research programmes which may carry additional costs such as bench fees (also know as research support fees). If applicable these costs will be outlined in your offer.

In the UK, you can access higher education through a range of loan and funding options. There are loans available from the Government for undergraduate, postgraduate and postgraduate research degrees.
Tuition fee loan
All UK full-time students can apply for an undergraduate loan to cover their tuition fees. If you normally live in England, you'll need to apply via Student Finance England. They will check your eligibility and that of your chosen course. If you're eligible, Student Finance England will pay your tuition fees straight to your university. You won't need to pay anything upfront.
If you normally live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland you will have different support available.
Maintenance loan
Maintenance loans are also available from Student Finance England to help with day-to-day living costs, such as rent and bills. You can apply for the loan whatever your living situation is. For example if you're staying in student accommodation or living at home and commuting.
Maintenance loans are based on your household income. If eligible, then the maintenance loan is paid direct into your bank account. You'll need to pay the loan back once you've graduated and are earning enough.
How to apply

You will only start to repay both your tuition fee and maintenance loans once you are working and earning enough. Visit the student loan repayment site for more information.
Postgraduate master's loan
If you’re thinking of studying a master’s degree, you could be eligible for a loan from the Government to help you study. This will help cover tuition fees and living costs and is paid directly to you. If your course lasts for more than one year, your loan will be divided over each year. You'll start paying the loan back once you're working and earning over a certain amount, just like the undergraduate loans. You can find out more on the Government website.
Funding is different if you normally live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.
Funding and discounts
Some universities may off scholarships or bursaries for postgraduate study. For example, if you previously studied at undergraduate level. We offer an Alumni Loyalty Discount to our graduates for most postgraduate courses.
Doctoral loan
If you want to study a postgraduate research degree as a UK/home student, you might be eligible for a postgraduate doctoral loan from the Government. This can help with course fees and living costs.
You'll start repaying the loan once you're working and earning over the specified threshold.
Funding will be different if you normally live in Wales.
Studentships
Studentships are a funded opportunity which link to a specific research project. Funding is is only available to PhD students working on that specific funded project or one that is open to any applicants in a specified field. Many universities offer studentships but they can be competitive. Find out more about our studentships.
