Why study abroad?

How does studying abroad work?

A large number of our courses offer the opportunity to study abroad for a year, normally in your second year. While studying abroad, you will study similar modules and classes as you would if you were at home.

After spending your second year overseas, you come home to finish your degree for your third and final year.

You will have access to financial support and more through our international exchange programmes, which are vital in getting you to where you want to go.

This provides a perfect opportunity to not only see the world beyond our shores, but to bolster your own personal and professional skills. Time spent abroad can be invaluable, and helps you stand out from the crowd in a competitive global market.

Hear from our students who studied abroad

If you’re thinking of studying abroad, do it. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve made and it’s not often you get the chance to spend so much time in a different country. Make sure to talk to new people and make friends. I’ve met some people that I’ll be friends with for the rest of my life.

The Turing Scheme was launched in 2021 by the UK government to support international study and work abroad. It was launched to replace the Erasmus+ programme, which the UK has left following its departure from the EU.

The Turing Scheme provides universities with funding to offer grants to students to carry out either a study or work placement throughout the world*

The International Student Exchange Programme (ISEP) is an international network that encourages student exchanges all around the world. These exchanges allow students to ‘swap’ places with other students at universities that are also members of ISEP. Exchanges can be for a semester or for the full academic year.
